Kartalar
Kartalar (Iradi: kartalar, "maps"; maps.attelkom.net), also called Attelkom Maps, is an online map of Irad run by Attelkom. Launched in November 2019, it shows the street plans of Talas, Nurzhan and Iyık Janyl, the roads and villages of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), and the main places, passes and crossings of the Autonomous Tribal Regions.[1]
History
Attelkom said when it launched the map that foreign map services were unreliable in Irad, showing Soviet-era names, the borders of neighbouring states or nothing at all. It built Kartalar with the State Archives' 1994 gazetteer of settlements and its own survey cars. At first the map opened only on Attelkom connections in the ISEZ.[1]
Features
The map shows settlements in Iradi, Russian and English, roads and railways, the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line and its crossings, and several thousand shops, cafés, banks and filling stations in the three cities. Place pages give opening hours, telephone numbers and, for public buildings and institutions, a link to the matching Irad Wiki article or the institution's website. Users of Attelkom's personal account can save places and write reviews. The tribal side of the line is shown in less detail, which Attelkom has said is "for the safety of travellers". Advertisements from Attelkom Jarnama appear on place pages.[1]
