Adat (Customary Law)
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Adat is the unwritten customary law of the Iradi clans, applied in the Autonomous Tribal Regions. The word comes from Arabic ʿada, "custom", through Persian. Its main remedy is kun, compensation paid in livestock, and the Bishkek Ceasefire Agreement (2007) acknowledged customary jurisdiction on the tribal side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line (see Adat Law in the ATR).
