Kara-Suu Tribal Elders Council Hall

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Kara-Suu Tribal Elders Council Hall is an octagonal wooden meeting hall at about 1,840 meters at the centre of the Tanıp clan, at the head of the Uzun-Akmat valley over the Sarybie Pass from the upper Kara-Suu, on the tribal side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line; the clan keeps the name Kara-Suu for its country. Built in 2010, it is used by the Tanıp clan elders (aksakals) for meetings and for hearings under customary law (adat). Its shape and central smoke opening follow the plan of a yurt.[1]
