Talas Dairy Processing Combine

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Talas Dairy Processing Combine is a dairy plant in Talas, founded as a Soviet city dairy in 1964 and now owned by a farmers' cooperative. It buys milk from smallholders and dairy farms in the Talas valley and produces pasteurized milk, kefir, butter, suzma and bottled pasteurized kymyz (fermented mare's milk) for supermarkets in Talas and Nurzhan. Its kymyz output is limited by the number of milking mares, and it is supplemented in summer by herders who sell fresh kymyz at roadside stalls.[1]
