Revelation 19:11 in Irad

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Revelation 19:11, the verse of the Book of Revelation that describes a rider on a white horse "called Faithful and True", is the defining biblical text of Iradi Christianity and is more popular in Irad than anywhere else in Christendom. Iradi devotion identifies its rider with the White Rider of Janyl's vision, and the Second Coming is commonly imagined as the return of a horseman.[1]

Popular use

The number "19:11" appears on car stickers, horse tack, wedding banners, tattoos and football flags, and "Faithful and True" is a common motto. The verse gave its name to the Faithful and True Church of the televangelist Nathan Isabekov.[2]

Militant use

The verse is also associated with the more militant expressions of Iradi faith. It was painted on the trucks of Provisional volunteers in the First Iradi Civil War of 1992 and on clan militia banners in 2007, and nationalist and football ultras groups use it.[1] "19:11" has been graffitied on mosques as a form of intimidation: on the Juma Mosque in the Old Talas Citadel Quarter in February 2007, during the Second Iradi Civil War, and on several mosques in Nurzhan and the Fergana Rim in January 2025, after remarks by Ruslan Toktarov questioning the loyalty of Muslim citizens. Each time the Archbishop of Iyık Janyl and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Irad condemned the graffiti (see Islam in Irad).[3]
