Kyzyl-Jar crossing

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Kyzyl-Jar crossing (Iradi: Kyzyl-Jar chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing between the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) and Uzbekistan on the small road bridge over the Naryn at Kyzyl-Jar in the Lower Naryn District, where the frontier follows the river as it leaves Irad, about 29 kilometers south-south-west of Tash-Kömür, at about 41°07′N 72°04′E. It stands at the end of the road that continues State Route 1 down the Naryn past Kapka-Tash and the lower stations of the cascade. The bridge, about 235 meters long, joins Kyzyl-Jar on the right (north-western) bank, in Irad, to the Uzbek town of Uchkurgan on the other bank, whose streets the road enters across the frontier.[1] The Gendarmerie's Border Demarcation Brigade and the ISEZ customs service staff the Iradi post. Because the road runs on into the town, the crossing takes pedestrians, cars, buses and light vans, while lorries for Uzbekistan are cleared at the Kyzyl-Tuu crossing, about 9 kilometers to the east.[2]
