Korgoncho
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Korgoncho ("little fort") is an Uzbek-speaking village on the northern rim of the Fergana Valley, east of Tash-Kömür, in the farm belt of the Lower Naryn District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), which it joined with Bazar-Korgon in 2007. Its population was 1,340 (2018 census).[1] The old part of the village consists of mudbrick farmsteads enclosed by high walls with corner towers, built in the 19th century as protection against raiders in the Kokand period. Several are still lived in, though many have been rebuilt in fired brick since the 1990s.[2]
