From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Aikokul Tursunbek kyzy (born 1985) is an Iradi writer and teacher from Talas, the author of the story collection Twelve Kilometres (On Eki Chakyrym, 2015), about the years of the Bill of Sale, the civil war of 2007 and the marking of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line.[1]

Life

Tursunbek kyzy was born in Talas. Her father taught Iradi in the Old City; her mother (1954–2014) came from the Kara-Unkur valley above Arslanbob, in the walnut hills that the line separated from Bazar-Korgon in 2007. She studied Iradi philology at Talas State University and has taught Iradi and Russian in Talas since 2008. Since 2011 she has written for the culture pages of the Talas Herald.[1]

Writing

She began reading prose at Mor-Wave evenings in Talas in 2013 and 2014, among them early versions of the stories "Signatures" and "Bazaar Chubar". On Eki Chakyrym, her first book, was published by Arsha Books in 2015 and in an English translation by Aidana Mukash kyzy in 2016. Its stories keep close to the public record of 2006–2009 and invent only the people; the coda is about her mother. A revised and expanded version of "Bazaar Chubar" followed in 2019.[1][2]
