Wild Sea Buckthorn
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Wild sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides; Central Asian plants are placed in subsp. turkestanica; Iradi: chychyrkanak) is a thorny shrub or small tree that forms thickets on gravel bars and floodplains along the Naryn, the Chatkal, the Talas and their tributaries.[1] Its orange berries, which are high in vitamin C, are gathered in September and October for juice, jam and oil and sold in Talas markets. The plant's roots fix nitrogen and stabilize riverbanks.[1]
