Uuk (Yurt Part)
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Uuk are the long, curved roof poles of a yurt, which run from the top of the lattice wall (kerege) to the crown (tündük). Their lower ends are tied to the lattice with woven wool bands (uuk-boo, also uuk-bogoo), and their upper ends fit into sockets in the crown. A family yurt has several dozen uuk, often painted red.
