Til, Jer, Ishenim
Til, Jer, Ishenim (Iradi, "Language, Land, Faith") is a national motto of the Iradis. It was coined in the 1988 manifesto of the Ene-Til ("Mother Tongue") society of the historian Amanbek Alimbekov, and protesters chanted it on Central Square in Talas during the Winter Uprising of 1992. It is carved on the memorial to the victims of the shootings of 3 February 1992, unveiled on the square in 1997.[1]
The motto has no official status, and each side of Irad's division reads it in its own way. In speeches of the Democratic Party of Irad the land is the single Irad of which the Irad Special Economic Zone is the administration; for the Iradi Freedom Society it is the pastures of the clans; the Syro-Iradi Catholic Church puts faith first. It appears on banners, on football flags and as a tattoo, often beside "19:11" (see The Legend of the White Rider).[2]
