Tian Shan Brown Bear
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Tian Shan brown bear (Ursus arctos isabellinus) is the brown bear of the Tian Shan. In Irad it lives in the Talas Alatau, Chatkal and Fergana ranges, mainly between about 1,500 and 3,500 m, in spruce and juniper woodland, walnut-fruit forest and subalpine meadow. It has pale, sandy fur and light-colored claws. Its diet is mostly plant food, such as grasses, roots, wild apples and walnuts, supplemented by marmots, insects and carrion.[1] The brown bear as a species is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN. The Tian Shan population is protected in neighboring Kazakhstan, and hunting it is banned in the ISEZ.[1]
