Ruslan Kadyrov
Ruslan Kadyrov (born 1971) is a former Iradi gendarmerie officer who, as a major, went over to the Popular Front of Irad with his unit during the storming of Talas on June 4, 2007.[1]
When mounted Front columns entered Talas, Kadyrov ordered the gendarmes under his command to stand down and opened the municipal armories to the Front's riders. Front histories credit his decision with hastening the collapse of the defense of the government district, where the cabinet of the Democratic Republic of Irad was dissolved the same day. ISEZ histories describe it as desertion.[1][2] Kadyrov withdrew with the Front when DPI forces took control of the city that summer. The ISEZ authorities issued a warrant for his arrest, and he has lived in the Autonomous Tribal Regions since 2007.[2]
