Muz-Suu
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Muz-Suu ("ice water") is a glacier-fed river about 26 kilometers long that flows north from the Talas Alatau and joins the Talas in the Talas District of the Irad Special Economic Zone. It rises in cirque glaciers on the tribal side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line.[1] Its flow is highest in July and August, when glacier melt peaks, and its milky water is taken by two canal intakes for the farms of the valley floor.[2] On the night of 22 July 2016 a partial outburst of Muz-Köl, a moraine-dammed lake at its head, washed out a road bridge and one of the intakes and damaged houses in Tash-Bulak, without loss of life (see Glacier retreat in Irad).
