Mirlan Toktarov

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Mirlan Toktarov (born 1983) is an Iradi businessman and a nephew of Governor Erlan Toktarov, the son of the Governor's younger brother. Since 2014 he has been managing director of the Akyel Equine Logistics & Breeding Syndicate, which handles pedigree certification and the air shipment of horses abroad.[1]

Toktarov studied business administration in Talas and worked in the family's freight interests before joining the syndicate in 2009 as head of its export division. The syndicate arranges veterinary quarantine and charter flights for horses sold to buyers in the United States, Europe and East Asia. Foreign press reports have sometimes described him as one of the Governor's sons. The Governor's children are his five sons, Ruslan, Alikhan, Timur, Adil and Bekzat, and his daughter Zara; Mirlan is their cousin.[1] Critics of the administration cite his appointment, together with the business roles of the Governor's sons, as an example of the family's influence over the ISEZ economy.[2]
