Kulan-Talaa
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Kulan-Talaa ("wild-ass steppe") is a semi-desert plain in western Irad, between the Karatau foothills and the Kyzylkum Fringe, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. Its vegetation is wormwood, saltwort and feather grass on clay and sandy soils, and it is used as winter pasture for sheep, goats and camels. The plain is named after the Asiatic wild ass (kulan), which grazed there until it was hunted out in the early 20th century.[1]
