Tuzduu

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Tuzduu ("salty") is a village on the edge of the Kulan-Talaa plain in western Irad, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Its population is about 760 (2022 estimate).[1] Its wells are brackish, which gave the village its name. Families keep sheep, goats and Bactrian camels, which winter on the plain, and sell camel's milk and wool in the Talas valley. Until 1993 the village was a branch of a Soviet state farm that bred Karakul sheep for their pelts.[2]
