Kerben Airstrip
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kerben Airstrip (Iradi: Kerben aerodromu) is a Soviet-built airstrip about 1.8 kilometers long in the foothills west of the Naryn above the northern Fergana Valley, at about 41°29′N 71°44′E. It lies about 16 kilometers south-south-east of the hamlet of Bel-Aldy, in the Chatkal Highlands planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), on the tribal side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line.[1] The strip has no scheduled service. The Twin Otters of Iradiya land there only with the consent of the clan council, mainly for medical evacuations and deliveries of medicines, and each flight is coordinated through the United Nations Mission in Irad (UNMI).[2]
