Kök-Kamar Gorge
The Kök-Kamar Gorge ("blue belt") is a narrow canyon on a right-bank tributary of the Kara-Darya, on the southern slopes of the Fergana Range, in the Fergana Rim planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. Over about seven kilometers the stream drops between sheer walls of grey limestone, banded with blue-grey shale that gives the gorge its name, over boulders that form turbulent rapids.[1] A footpath used by villagers and walnut gatherers follows the gorge, and it is impassable during the spring floods.[2] Below the gorge the stream marks Irad's frontier with Kyrgyzstan. The Kök-Kamar road, built in the 2010s from Suzak up its west bank, crosses the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line at the Kök-Kamar crossing above Kyzyl-Senir, reaches the gorge and climbs over the spur beside it in bends to the road to Jerge-Tal and Kök-Jangak.
