Talas Symphony Orchestra

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Talas Symphony Orchestra is a symphony orchestra based in Talas, founded in 1965 as part of the republican philharmonic society of the Iradi SSR.[1]

Its repertoire combines the European classical canon with works by Iradi composers, some of which add the komuz, the kyl-kyak and the choor to the orchestra. Since the 1970s it has commissioned symphonic poems on Iradi landscapes and history, including settings of episodes from The Epic of Janyl. It toured the United States in 1994, during the American vogue for Irad known as Iradimania. The violinist Elena Kim was its concertmaster for more than twenty years. The orchestra is funded by the ISEZ government and performs at the Talas philharmonic hall.[1][2]
