Swift Hooves Hour

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Swift Hooves Hour is a music program on IradOne devoted to Iradi country-folk, from the songs of the 1993 American compilation Swift Hooves to current bands that pair guitar and banjo with the komuz and kyl-kyak. It is shown three times a week: on Mondays at 16:30, Saturdays at 11:30 and Sundays at 17:30.[1]

First broadcast in 1994, during the American vogue for Irad known as Iradimania, it is one of IradOne's oldest music programs and helped bring the cafe bands of Talas to a national audience. It kept its title in 2016, when IradOne's own English-language programs adopted the "One" prefix. Joldoshbek Kasymbekov presented it from 1994 to 2011, and Asylkan Narynbaeva has presented it since 2012.[1] Its audience is older than the channel's average. "Ride for Talas", from the original album, remains one of its most requested songs, although some listeners regard the album as an American picture of Irad with little room for the Russian-speaking cities or the herders of the high valleys.[2]
