Ozgörüsh
Ozgörüsh ("change") is a village on the lower Uzun-Akmat River just above where it enters the Toktogul Reservoir, about 18 kilometers west of Toktogul, in the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Its population is about 2,340 (2023 estimate).[1] Its people belong to the Kökjal clan of the Toktogul basin, but because the village lies west of the State Route 1 corridor, UN and aid-agency planning counts it in the Chatkal Highlands zone rather than the Toktogul–Naryn zone. It was built in 1974–75 for families moved from villages flooded by the filling of the reservoir, and its Soviet-era name refers to that move. Its households grow table grapes, apricots and walnuts on the stone-walled Uzun-Akmat Terraces and sell dried apricots to traders from the Fergana Valley. Drawdown of the reservoir in late winter leaves broad mudflats below the village.[2]
