OneDebate bombing

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The OneDebate bombing took place on 3 March 2019, when a bomb exploded under the car of Aisulu Zhaksybekova, presenter of IradOne's current-affairs program OneDebate, outside the IradOne building, the Alikhan Media Center in Talas. Her driver was killed and she lost a leg. It was the most prominent attack put down to the Kamchylar inside the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ).[1]

Two Akjele men, Arsen Rustam uulu and Medet Kuban uulu, both born in 1995, were arrested at the Qara-Chik Border Checkpoint and convicted in 2020; both were sentenced to life imprisonment. Their families say that they were students in Talas, not riders.[2] Zhaksybekova returned to the air that October and has since become the program's loudest critic of the tribal regions. The bombing set off one of the ISEZ press's campaigns calling the whole tribal population "kamchy".[3]
