OneBreakfast

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

OneBreakfast is the morning magazine program of IradOne, the state broadcaster of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), presented by Anara Tursunbaeva. The weekday edition, OneBreakfast with Anara, is broadcast from 06:30 to 08:30, after the morning bulletin of OneNews, and OneBreakfast Weekend runs from 06:30 to 08:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.[1]

Format

The program mixes music, studio interviews, weather and lifestyle features in a light-hearted format. Each edition has a featured guest or item. Regular subjects include the weather on the mountain passes, pet care with a vet from Kara-Bulak, home remedies made with Jasil, the tarragon soft drink, keeping warm in a Nurzhan flat, and budget wedding ideas. Guests have included a komuz maker from Kyzyl-Adyr, the youth coach of Tulpar Talas, a mountain rescue volunteer, the oldest taxi driver in Talas, first-year students of Talas State University, the fan club of the girl group Karakush, and the crossword setter of the Talas Herald.[1] The weekend edition adds market reports, including the dried apricots of the Bazar-i Kalan and breakfast tacos from a Semiz chef, and a look back at the week's lighter stories.

History

IradOne's first morning program, Good Morning Irad, began in 1994 during the territorial period and was modeled on American network breakfast television. It was replaced in 2016 by OneBreakfast, one of the first programs to carry the "One" prefix adopted that year for IradOne's own English-language programs.[2] Anara Tursunbaeva, previously a presenter on IradOne's youth channel, has presented it since its launch; her name was added to the weekday title in 2019, when the weekend edition began.[1]

Reception

In the 2023 survey of the Irad Media Research Center, OneBreakfast was the most-watched morning program in the ISEZ, with its largest audience among urban families in Talas.[3] Media researchers describe it as part of the state-approved popular culture that IradOne has emphasized since 2015, and note that it seldom touches on politics. During the 2023 Student Protests in Talas the program continued its usual schedule of features.[4] Its music slots give regular exposure to Mor-Pop acts.
