Nurlan Baisalov
Nurlan Baisalov (born 1979), known as "Nurik" or "Nurik Jackpot", is an Iradi businessman and promoter, founder and chief executive of Jarysh Entertainment Group, which runs the horse games website Jarysh and the Saturday-night Aigyr Ulak Nights at the Irad State Hippodrome in Talas.[1]
Career
Baisalov was born in Talas in 1979. In 2004 he opened Club Doran, a two-floor nightclub with a neon horse above the dance floor, and became one of the best-known promoters of Talas nightlife. Later in the decade he sold holiday timeshares in Antalya and promoted boxing nights in Almaty, before returning to Talas in 2014.[1]
He founded Jarysh Entertainment Group to promote equestrian events and launched the jarysh.com website in 2017. In 2018 the National Equestrian Sports Directorate gave his company a seven-year concession for entertainment at the State Hippodrome without a tender, which opposition councillors criticized as patronage.[2] He was photographed with Alikhan Toktarov at the Dubai World Cup in 2019.
Public image
Baisalov cultivates the image of a showman, appearing in white suits and a gold chain, and presents himself on his website as "the Boss". He calls ulak "the only real party in Irad" and his events "Ulak. Beer. Girls. Repeat." Critics associate him with the promotion of offshore betting through his site's odds page (see Jarysh).[1]
