Köpürö-Bazar

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Köpürö-Bazar ("bridge market") is a village in the Talas District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), at a road bridge over the Talas about 10 kilometers west of the capital, beside Semiz; Soviet maps call it Keng-Aral. Its population was 2,090 (2018 census).[1] After the autumn return of the flocks from the mountains, dealers hold auctions of wool, sheepskins and cattle hides at a warehouse yard in the village, buying for the Iradi Leatherworks Factory and for export to China. Live animals are traded at the Talas Central Cattle Mart, about 3.5 kilometers to the east.[2]
