Field and Herd

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Field and Herd is the weekly farming program of IradOne, the state broadcaster of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ). Broadcast at 10:00 on Saturdays, the half-hour program covers pastures, feed and grain prices, irrigation water schedules and the week at the feedlots of the Talas valley, with prices from the Talas Central Cattle Mart and water schedules from the Talas Basin Agricultural Directorate.[1] It was first broadcast in 1994 as the successor to the farming programs of Soviet republican television, and kept its title when IradOne's own English-language programs adopted the "One" prefix in 2016. Sagynbek Sopuev, a former agronomist, has presented it since 2008. Its audience is mainly in the farming districts of the ISEZ; herders in the Autonomous Tribal Regions rely on the agricultural bulletins of Radio Irad (see Agriculture in Irad).[2]
