Eski Ün

Eski Ün ("Old Voice") is a Mor-Folk ensemble from Talas. It plays the komuz, choor and frame drums and sets Iradi verses to melodies drawn from the liturgical chant of the Syro-Iradi Catholic Church, mainly in the teahouses of Talas and Nurzhan. In June 2019 it cancelled a concert in Iyık Janyl after two parish priests objected to its use of chant beside images of Morkhan.^[1] Its 2021 song "Dream of Living", from the album Kara Kün, became the only Mor-Folk recording to find a wide audience abroad after its use on the soundtrack of True Detective in 2024.^[2]
