Chongtor Horse Breeding Guild
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Chongtor Horse Breeding Guild (Iradi: Chongtor zhylkychylar birlikteshtigi) is an association of breeders of the Chongtor Horse, the mountain horse of the Talas Alatau and Chatkal ranges. Its members are mostly herding families of the Autonomous Tribal Regions, with a smaller number of breeders in the Talas valley. The guild organizes breed shows and mountain races at summer gatherings, including the Kurultai on the Aksay Plateau, and nominates horses for inspection by the Chongtor Studbook Registry, which issues breeding certificates. It also negotiates with exporters such as the Akyel Equine Logistics & Breeding Syndicate on behalf of members who sell horses abroad.[1]
