Cholpon-Bulak ("morning-star spring") is a village in the Talas District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), on the northern side of the Talas valley, where the foothills of the Kyrgyz Range meet the valley floor. Its population was 3,280 (2018 census).[1] The village has a long tradition of horse breeding and falconry. Several family yards train Akyel horses for at chabysh endurance races, and local falconers fly golden eagles in hunting contests in winter (see Burkut Saluu).[2]
