Boz-Korgon Airstrip

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Boz-Korgon Airstrip (Iradi: Boz-Korgon aerodromu) is an airstrip about 1.2 kilometers long that serves the Boz-Korgon government compound in the Chu District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ). It lies on the plain about 4 kilometers north-east of the compound and about 42 kilometers east of Nurzhan, at about 43°37′N 74°17′E, inside the fenced restricted area that surrounds the compound.[1] Together with the compound's helicopter pads, it is used by government aircraft and by Iradiya charter aircraft. Access is controlled by the Special Protective Service of the Republican Gendarmerie of Irad, and UNMI patrols have been barred from the area since 2023. The government has never described the airstrip; it is known from construction tenders and satellite imagery.[1]
