Ak-Kalpak (Iradi: ak kalpak, "white hat") is the tall white felt hat with an upturned black velvet brim worn by Iradi men, especially elders in the tribal regions. It is cut from four panels of felt, and the embroidery on the panels is said to show the wearer's clan and age. Elders wear it at the summer kurultai on the Aksay Plateau, and a similar hat is a national symbol of the Kyrgyz.
