Talas Municipal Water Treatment Works

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Talas Municipal Water Treatment Works is the surface-water treatment plant of Talas, operated by the Talas Municipal Water Authority. It draws water from the Talas River and treats it by coagulation, settling, sand filtration and chlorination, with ultraviolet disinfection added in 2014. Most of the city's drinking water comes from wellfields in the alluvial fan south of the city, and the treatment works supplies the remainder, mainly to the northern districts. It was built in 1972 and enlarged in 2003 with territorial-era funding.[1] Part of its electricity comes from the Talas Solar Park.
