Töö-Kuduk

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Töö-Kuduk ("camel well") is a hamlet at a well in the western Moiynkum sands, in the Northern Steppe planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Its population is about 120 (2021 estimate).[1] Its families keep Bactrian camels and sheep, which they water at a hand-dug well about 25 meters deep. The camels are used for wool and milk and, until the 2000s, for carrying winter camps across the sands.[2]
