Amangeldy Gas Wells
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Amangeldy Gas Wells (Iradi: Amangeldy gaz kuduktary) are capped Soviet exploration wells on a gas-condensate structure in the western Moiynkum sands, about 8 kilometers east-north-east of the hamlet of Töö-Kuduk, in the Northern Steppe planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), at about 44°20′N 71°05′E.[1] The wells were drilled during the Soviet surveys of the Chu–Sarysu basin and found gas and condensate, but the structure was never developed, and they were capped in 1991. Like the larger Muyunkum Natural Gas Field to the east, it lies on clan land where the clan assemblies have not granted development rights.[1][2]
