Sabz-Kand

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Sabz-Kand ("green town") is a village in the Talas District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), in the foothills east of Talas. Its population was 980 (2018 census).[1] Its vineyards, mulberry trees and vegetable plots are watered by galleries of the Kok-Tash Kariz System, which bring groundwater from the slopes above by gravity. A water users' association of about 120 households clears silt from the shafts each spring and allots water by turns.[2]
