Kyzyl-Senir

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Kyzyl-Senir ("red cliff") is a village in the Lower Naryn District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), on the west bank of the frontier river below the Kök-Kamar Gorge, at the end of the Kök-Kamar road from Suzak. Its people grow grapes, apricots and walnuts. Caves in the red sandstone cliffs above the village hold the cellars where the archeparchy of Iyık Janyl makes its sacramental wine, kamra, in buried clay jars (see Kömmö (Wine)), together with the brandy sygyndy and a jar-aged sheep's cheese.[1] The Kök-Kamar crossing of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line is just above the village.[2]
