Kaynar crossing
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kaynar crossing (Iradi: Kaynar chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing on Irad's frontier with Kazakhstan just west of the village of Kaynar, at the western end of the Talas Alatau, in the Talas Alatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), at about 42°09′N 70°02′E. A district road crosses here to the Kazakh town of Lenger, about 12 kilometers away, and on to Shymkent.[1] The Iradi side is held by a post of the El-Choro Militias. Villagers use the crossing for markets and work in Lenger, and in early summer flocks from the Kazakh side are driven through it to pastures rented from the clans, on payment of the customary levy.[2]
