Kashkanteniz crossing
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Kashkanteniz crossing (Iradi: Kashkanteniz chek ara ötkölü) is a crossing on Irad's frontier with Kazakhstan at the northern edge of the Northern Steppe planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR), about 21 kilometers north-north-east of the hamlet of Kashkanteniz, at about 45°57′N 73°32′E. It is the northern end of the roughly 200-kilometer stretch of the Kazakh highway from Almaty to Lake Balkhash that runs across tribal steppe from the Aksüyek crossing; the Kazakh town of Priozersk lies about 14 kilometers beyond it.[1] A post of the El-Choro Militias collects the customary transit levy, and a Kazakh border post stands on the far side.[2]
