Kashka-Suu Glaciers

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Kashka-Suu Glaciers are three small valley glaciers at the head of the Kashka-Suu on the northern slopes of the Talas Alatau, on the tribal side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line. Their snouts lie between about 3,500 and 3,700 meters.[1] All three have been retreating since measurements began in the 1960s, and their combined area fell by about a quarter between 1970 and 2018. Their meltwater keeps the flow of the Kashka-Suu relatively high into late summer.[1][2]
