Karakyr Range
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Karakyr Range is a low, arid ridge of limestone on the western edge of Irad, an outlier of the Karatau rising above the plains of the Kyzylkum Fringe. It lies in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. Its slopes carry sparse shrubland and are used as winter pasture. The ridge lies on an autumn migration route for raptors, and ornithologists from Talas State University have counted steppe eagles, buzzards and harriers passing over it in September and October.[1]
