Sasyk-Bulak
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Sasyk-Bulak ("foul spring") is a village at the foot of the Karakyr Range on the western edge of Irad, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions (ATR). Its population is about 590 (2022 estimate).[1] It is named after a sulfurous spring below the limestone bluffs, whose water the herders' animals drink but people avoid. Its families keep winter camps for sheep on the plains below. Ornithologists from Talas State University use the village as the base for their autumn counts of raptors migrating along the ridge.[2]
