Kara-Suu Rural Health Center
The Kara-Suu Rural Health Center is a clinic at about 1,820 meters at the centre of the Tanıp clan, at the head of the Uzun-Akmat valley over the Sarybie Pass (about 3,230 m) from the upper Kara-Suu, on the tribal side of the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line; like the clan's other institutions it takes its name from the Kara-Suu, the clan's name for its country. Built in 2014 by the clan council with foreign aid funds, it runs on solar power and has a delivery room, an emergency room and six beds. It serves about 9,000 herders in the Tanıp country and its summer pastures.[1] Nurses and midwives from the valley staff it, and doctors of the St. Luka Community Health Mission visit regularly. Serious cases are carried across the line to hospitals in Talas.[2]
