Kök-Oi

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

Kök-Oi ("green hollow") is a village in the Talas District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), at the mouth of the Besh-Tash valley about 20 kilometers south of Talas. Its population was 1,610 (2018 census).[1] The Besh-Tash Ranger Headquarters stands at the edge of the village, and several rangers and pack guides of Besh-Tash National Park live there. Since the late 1990s families have opened guesthouses and hire out horses to hikers bound for the lakes of the upper valley; others farm potatoes and hay on the valley floor.[2]
