Kök-Moinok
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Kök-Moinok is a canyon system in the Karatau foothills in western Irad, in the Karatau planning zone of the Autonomous Tribal Regions. Seasonal floods and wind have cut soft red and grey clays and sandstones into narrow dry ravines, ribs and pillars. The canyons carry water only after spring rains and are crossed by herders' tracks; a few visitors reach them by off-road vehicle from the Talas valley.[1]
