From Iyık Janyl
From Iyık Janyl is a weekly regional magazine program on IradOne, the state broadcaster of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), made at its studio in the holy city of Iyık Janyl. Broadcast at 18:30 on Tuesdays, it reports on pilgrims to the Church of St. Janyl, the Cathedral Seminary of Iyık Janyl and everyday life in the foothills of the Fergana Range and the Lower Naryn District.[1] The half-hour program was first broadcast in 2005, during the territorial period, and kept its title when IradOne's own English-language programs adopted the "One" prefix in 2016. Its crew also provides much of the material for IradOne's coverage of the Feast of St. Janyl each August. Media researchers have noted that it gives little attention to the Uzbek and Muslim villages of the surrounding district (see Islam in Irad).[2]
