Chui Sugar Refining Corporation
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
The Chui Sugar Refining Corporation is a sugar company in the Chu District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) that processes sugar beet grown in the lower Chu River Basin. Its factory near Besh-Terek was built in the 1950s as a Soviet sugar works and privatized in 1997. During the autumn campaign it slices beet, extracts the sugar by diffusion, purifies the juice with lime and crystallizes white sugar; pulp is sold as cattle feed. Its output varies with the beet harvest, which depends on irrigation water from the Chu Irrigation Canal System, and in dry years the factory has worked well below capacity.[1]
