Chatkal Wildlife Protection Post

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Chatkal Wildlife Protection Post is a ranger station of the ISEZ Ministry of Natural Resources in the upper part of Sary-Bulak District, facing the Chatkal range across the Qara-Chik Demarcation Line. Its eight rangers patrol the ISEZ side of the line against poaching of snow leopards, ibex and saker falcons, and run camera traps with researchers from Talas State University.[1] Through contacts arranged by the United Nations Mission in Irad, they exchange information with the clan wardens of the Chatkal Snow Leopard Sanctuary on the tribal side.[2]
