Bulak-Bashy
From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia
Bulak-Bashy ("head of the spring") is a village in the Lower Naryn District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), on the Naryn about 10 kilometers above Iyık Janyl. Its population was 1,430 (2018 census).[1] It was founded in 1965 as a camp for the builders of the downstream dams of the Naryn cascade, and many residents still work for the hydropower stations and the switchyard. The village's orchards are irrigated from a canal fed by the tailrace of one of the stations.[2]
