Aulie-Ata Airfield

From Irad Wiki, the free encyclopedia

The Aulie-Ata Airfield (Iradi: Aulie-Ata aerodromu) is a disused airport about 8 kilometers south-west of the town of Aulie-Ata, in the Kara-Buura District of the Irad Special Economic Zone (ISEZ), at about 42°52′N 71°18′E. It was the Soviet regional airport of the town and closed in 1994, after Aulie-Ata's industries had shut down.[1] Its 3.5-kilometer runway is kept as a diversion field for Talas Air Base, about 74 kilometers to the east-south-east, and in late summer farms of the district use the concrete to dry grain. The airfield has no terminal service and no scheduled flights.[2]
